“I got three over here guys what about you?”  Vic said as he gazed through binoculars at guards patrolling the south gate.

Mike’s voice piped in clear and concise over the radio, “four on this side.”

“Two over here” JP chimed in.

“DAMN!” Tez exclaimed

“What’s wrong,” Vic asked, now suddenly worried that the plan might have hit a snag.

“There’s only one out here. Can I switch sides?” Tez answered.

“No,” Vic grumbled stifling a chuckle.

“You might want to be a little more careful though.” JP said, “only one person doesn’t make sense.  Could be an ambush or somethin.”

“I hope so.  I mean he’s a big dude and everything . . . but I need at least a little challenge.”

“HEY!” Vic called out over the COM, “challenges come after we get through this.  Right now just focus on getting it done.”

“Yeah yeah yeah” Tez said over the channel.

“Alright.  JP you’re up first.  Mikey’s in next then Tez and I move.  Everybody got it?”  Vic asked.  Four acknowledgment tones over the channel answered him.

JP

JP tapped the side of his com as he carefully watched the pacing guards.  One of them clutched a pistol in his hands while the other nursed a SMG.  Both were alert, probably an effect of the crash, but not quite as alert as they likely needed to be.  JP crouched down and began to move toward the man with the SMG.  There was just enough cover to allow him to stick to the shadows as he approached the large wall surrounding the base.  He moved silently into the brush and closed his eyes.  He focused entirely on breathing.  Breathe in.  Breathe out.  Breathe in. Breathe out. Slow down and move.  He thought to himself.  Suddenly his eyes snapped open and his plan of attack became clear.
In a smooth motion he reached up and tapped the acknowledgment button on his COM again and darted out of the brush.  The guard carrying the SMG dropped his shoulders and took aim but barely had time to squeeze the trigger before JP slid next to him.  JP slammed his left hand into the bottom of the barrel of the man’s gun sending its aim up into the blue.  A few shots rattled off but were ultimately harmless as they hurtled high into the air.  With a calculated maneuver, he then slammed his right hand into the guard’s exposed throat, then spun and hurdled the man into his partner who had just composed himself enough to look for the open shot.  The second guard slid out of the way of his falling comrade and resumed aim but it was too late.  JP drove his knee into the man’s chest and dropped an elbow on his spine.  The man collapsed into a heap below him and he immediately dropped down to pick up the fallen weapons.

Mikey

Mikey silently waited for the signal as he peered at the passing guards.  The four men were tall thin men and seemed to be very unconcerned about their surroundings.  All of the men were armed but only two of them had their weapons drawn.  As a whole they stood talking and joking, apparently none too worried about the pod landing.  Mikey lifted a large sone in his right hand as he neared the lackadaisical group.  JP’s acknowledgment tone buzzed over the COM and was followed by a short burst of gunfire.  The four men stopped in their tracks and turned.   The two guards without drawn weapons instinctively dropped their hands toward the pistols at their sides.  Mikey saw his chance.
With a grunt he hurled the stone into the air and leapt out toward the guards.  The stone collided into the face of a guard holding an assault rifle and sent him tumbling backwards to te ground.  Mikey ducked his shoulder and drove his elbow deep into the ribs of the other guard that held an assault rifle.  In a deft move, he swivelled his body to wrap around the weapon and squeezed the trigger sending rounds into a guard who had finally found the dexterity to grasp his magnum from its holster at his hip.  Mikey then wrenched the Assault rifle from the guard’s hands and slammed the but of it into the remaining guard as the man still fumbled for his pistol.
“All clear” Mikey whispered into the COM as he slid a pistol into his pocket and picked up another clip for the assault rifle.  They had apparently been issued nonlethal ball bearings this go around.  Enough to incapacitate and leave a reminder in the morning, but nothing deadly.  “All Clear, JP’s voice rang out over the COM.  Mikey squatted and moved into the gate.

Tez

The guard never moved.  He stood gazing out as vigilantly as any other but never moved.  Tez watched him carefully, looking for weakness, opportunity, or just a little bit of opening but the man never moved.  A beep came through Tez’s COM followed by a short burst of fire.  Tez hoped this would be enough to draw the man’s attention away from his post, but to no avail.  Even the next round of gunfire wasn’t enough to stir the mammoth of a man as he stood, arms folded, gazing out.  “All clear” Mikey called out over the COM, quickly followed by JP.  Tez took a moment to compose himself then replied
“Im movin” he whispered into the COM.  He made no attempt to sneak, but stood straight up and walked head on toward the guard.  As he got approached, he could see that the man would tower about two and a half feet over him and about twice his width.  Tez stopped as he got within arms distance.  “So uuhhh . . . ” Tez began with a smile, “How come you get to stand out here by yourself and everyone else has to have a chaperone?”
The man’s face stayed grim, “I can take care of myself,” the guard said through a bass filled voice.
“Good,” Tez said with a smile, “I’d hate for this to be too easy.”  In a quick motion, Tez hopped right and forward driving his fist at the guards face but was surprised when the man caught him by his wrist and swung him to the ground.  Tez used his momentum to roll and slide as he looked up to face the guard.
Once again the man stood immobile.  Only this time, he carried a large grin on his face and a pistol aimed right at Tez.  “Maybe you need to go get some back up yourself,” the guard chuckled.
Tez stood up and smiled, “Nah,” Tez laughed in reply, “I just figured I’d let you feel good about yourself before I knock you out.”
The guard let out a bellowing laugh and tossed the gun to the ground. “If you insist little man,” he said, oozing with confidence, “We can do it the slow way.”

Vic

The first sound of gunfire concerned him and the second hit worried him even more.  Vic waited patiently for any sign that his team was ok as the three guards in front of him went on alert and marched along the gate, glaring toward the canopy where Vic lay.  One of the guys reached a hand to his head and spun on his heels before darting inside the base.  “All clear,” Mikey’s voice replied over the COM. JP’s clear came quickly afterward and then Tez.

I guess its time. Vic thought to himself as he watched the two remaining guards.  He noticed that the canopy didn’t extend close enough for a sneak attack so he decided to charge head on.  With a grunt, he launched himself upward and wove his way back and forth while barreling toward the guards.  Shots flew past his ears as he extended his route to his right and circled around his attackers.  He crossed his arms in front of him and lowered his shoulders when he felt a sharp pain on his right middle finger.  Ignoring the pain, he shot his arms out and wrapped them around the first guard.  Never stopping, he pumped his feet until he could feel the weight connect with second guard.   With a roar, he flung the guard in his arms to the ground and slammed his left fist into the second guard’s chest, following it with a right hook to his jaw.  The guard spiraled to the dirt below and Vic pounced on him grasping at the battle rifle the guard held in his hands.  His partner was attempting to get back up to his feet when Vic rolled and fired a burst of three shots into the back of the man’s head.
Vic stood and took a deep breath before remembering his finger hurt.  He glanced at it to see that it had already begun to change to a sickening purple.  War wounds. He thought as he smiled to himself.  “All clear here boys,” he sighed into the COM, all points converge on North gate, I’ll drop the package. When clear, one of you moves in for backup and the others clear the exit.”  Acknowledgment tones beeped through the COM except for Tez’s.  Vic figured something was up. He worried that Tez’s one guard was as much of a trap as expected.  He searched the men for any remaining ammo and gave them a kick for good measure before sliding through the gate.
